  • 1 in 3: “The 1 in 3 Campaign is a grassroots movement to start a new conversation about abortion–telling our stories, on our own terms. Together, we can end the stigma and shame women are made to feel about abortion. As we share our stories we begin to build a culture of compassion, empathy, and support for access to basic health care. It’s time for us to come out in support of each other and in support of access to legal and safe abortion care in our communities.”
  • Cat Bike Guy: This cat rides a bike through the city streets, on its owner’s shoulders. Crazy!
  • A Quick Way to Make Today’s Stars Seem Old: The headline isn’t quite right: today’s movie stars look amazingly young in comparison to the movie stars of decades past. I wonder how much of that is artificial (e.g. plastic surgery, chemicals, etc) versus merely better sun protection and less smoking.
  • MIT Wristband Could Make AC Obsolete: I’m not sure what I think of tricking the brain into feeling cool… and I wonder whether this would have any long-term impacts on health.
  • Teddy Bear, the Talking Porcupine, LOVES Pumpkin: The resemblance of his noises to human speech is really amazing.
  • Study shows 70 percent of Americans take prescription drugs: That so many people are so unhealthy as to require such drugs is rather alarming. Note: “The percentage of people who took at least one prescription drug in the past month increased from 44 percent in 1999-2000 to 48 percent in 2007-08, the Mayo Clinic reports.”
  • Eating indigenously changes diets and lives of Native Americans: This is a fascinating project in food history — and perhaps a way for people to learn to eat healthier too.
  • Simon Stalenhag Sci-Fi Paintings: I find many of these fascinating, lovely, … and a bit desolate.
  • “You have to be kidding me” Tow Truck Fail: Why yes, your day can turn to shit in a mere 24 seconds! DOH!
  • A 1st-grader honestly shows his work: AWWWW!
