In the most recent issue of the California Medical Board quarterly newsletter, they list a number of ways you can lose your medical license due to “unprofessional conduct”. Some of the choicer examples include:
A physician became angry with his accountant and hired a hit man to murder him. At the time the undercover police officer consummated the deal, the physician had a change of heart and decided he merely wanted the officer to break the accountant’s legs. A physician under peer review investigation by a hospital surreptitiously (or so he thought) wandered around the hospital parking lot keying the cars of hospital administrators. Another surgeon graciously offered his services as an assistant during his wife’s operation. He sutured his wife’s vagina completely closed.
