Tonight’s Broadcast: Cancelled

GRRR. I have to cancel tonight’s planned broadcast for the Presidential Debate. I’d still like to host the drinking game in the text chat, but I can’t broadcast due to being really damn sick.

I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday with a sore throat, but I thought I might get over it with a good night of sleep. In the evening, I took a decided turn for the worse. My temperature spiked up to 102.4, and I got pretty seriously dehydrated. Paul was working a 1 to 9 shift, so I kept getting worse until he got some ibuprofin, coconut water, potato chips (for the salt), and pineapple in me, plus got a wet towel and then an ice pack on my head.

This morning, my temperature was almost normal: it was 98.3, and I’m usually in the mid-97s. Alas, my temperature is spiking again as I type: it’s back up to 101.5.

I’ve never had a fever as an adult, so I’m a bit clueless about how to control it. Plus, I’m a bit loopy from the fever, so that doesn’t exactly help. I’m likely headed to the local urgent care center in a bit.

I hope that I’ll feel well enough tonight to host the text chat during the debate, but if not, y’all are welcome to post snarky commentary and drink without me!

It’s been my experience that you don’t need to worry about “controlling” a fever until you hit, like, 104 or so–the fever actually helps your body get rid of whatever is making you sick, and it’s not dangerous until it gets pretty high. The main thing is just to make yourself comfortable and wait it out.
